P1273 Nissan diagnostic trouble code

P1273 Nissan Code definition

P1273 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) that means “Air Fuel Ratio Sensor 1 Bank 1 Lean Shift Monitoring.”

What it means

The key to timely repairs is promptly identifying and solving problems connected with the P1273 code.
The A/F sensor, a limit current sensor with dual cells, is responsible for measuring the air-fuel ratio. To transport ions, the A/F sensor employs a Nernst concentration cell (sensor cell) combined with an oxygen-pump cell in its sensor element. The element contains a heater.

The sensor is capable of precise measurement λ= 1, but also in the lean and rich range. With its accompanying control electronics, the sensor delivers an uninterrupted signal throughout a wide spectrum of wavelengths (0.7 < λ < air).

Possible Causes

      • A faulty air-fuel ratio sensor
      • A vacuum leak
      • A bad fuel injector
      • A problem with the PCM

    Symptoms of P1273 may include

        • Engine misfire
        • Reduced fuel economy
        • Rough idle
        • The check engine light has turned on.

      How To Repair Code 1273

The repair will depend on the cause of the code.

      • If the sensor that measures the air-fuel ratio is not working properly, it must be replaced. In the case of a vacuum leak, it is necessary to repair or replace it.
      • If a fuel injector is not working correctly, it should be replaced. If the problem is in PCM, it may need to be reprogrammed or replaced.
      • Promptly diagnosing and resolving problems associated with the P1273 code is essential for timely repairs.
      • A lean condition can damage the engine and reduce its fuel economy.

      Diagnosis Your Car

To diagnose your car, it’s best to have a qualified technician use a scan tool. The scan tool will be able to read the code and show the PCM’s data stream. As part of the inspection process, the technician will carefully examine the air-fuel ratio sensor and wiring harness for any indications of damage.
