The Correct Jumpstart Procedure (Connection Order)

Connecting jumpstart cables in the correct sequence is crucial:

Red Cable Positive (RAV4):

First, connect the red (positive) cable to the RAV4’s positive terminal.

Red Cable Positive (Donor Vehicle):

Connect the other end of the red (positive) cable to the positive terminal of the donor (assisting) vehicle.

Black Cable Negative (Donor Vehicle):

Now, connect the black (negative) cable to the negative terminal of the donor vehicle.

Black Cable Negative (RAV4):

The final connection is the black (negative) cable to the negative terminal located on the RAV4’s engine block.

Starting the Car and Removing Cables

Charging:

Always remove the cables in reverse order:

Start the donor vehicle and increase its RPMs to approximately 2,000 to 2,500, letting it run for about 5 minutes to properly charge the battery.

Removing Cables:

RAV4’s Negative terminal (-) .

Donor Vehicle’s Negative terminal (-).

Donor Vehicle’s Positive terminal (+).

Finally, RAV4’s Positive terminal (+).

After this procedure, when you start the RAV4, the ‘READY’ sign should appear on the dashboard, indicating that your battery is properly charged.
